Just like the real Masters, the “Tourney C” version is loaded with all kinds of heart stopping finishes. Here are some of the best:

1986: Merullo’s scream cost Stampe playoff with Arnholt.
Mike Merullo let out a blood curdling scream to scare Stampe in the middle of his 15th hole tee shot. Stampe took a mulligan en route to a bogey 5 tying Arnholt at 79, but was then DQ’d for taking the second shot despite of the scream in his backswing.

1993: Strayer takes Close down to win the first playoff for overall title.
Defending champion Strayer defeats “C” flte champ Casey Close after Close stuns the crowd with a 74 following his 92 in ’92. Stampe falls one burdie short with a 75 and Strayer executes big up and down on #17 to get into the playoff.

1995: Buddy wins final “B” title in 5 hole playoff.
Cousins Buddy and Frank Fuller dueled to joint 85’s in regulation. The playoff the ensued lasted 5 holes before Bud finally took Frank down. The playoff featured a huge gallery and impromptu closest to the pin contests from players and fans alike. Both Fuller’s were defeated by the “C” and “D” champs that year.

1996: Hoover takes down Strayer on 11th hole after lost ball.
After tying in regulation. Jeff Strayer tried to drive the 11th hole during his playoff against Worthington’s Craig Hoover. At least a dozen people scurried along the bank of the lake to find the ball which was never retrieved after last seen flying into the bank of the far edge of the lake. Hoover parred to win the Jacket.

1997: Houser wins a 4-way playoff for the Jacket.
Houser and buddy Tony Mathena both had to birdie the 18th hole to tie Andy Moler and “B” champ Mike Mahoney for the low round of the day at 74. Houser made par to knock all three other golfers out on a playoff down the first hole.

1998: Hoover wins playoff for “C” he should never have been in.
Scott Hoover wins the first hole playoff over Joe Forquer and his friend Jerry Letzelter after they tie at 86. It is later discovered that Forquer signed a wrong scorecard and should have won with an 85.

2000: Houser gets up and down for the Jacket.
Houser birdies #18 to tie the clubhouse leader. Then gets up and down on the first playoff hole from behind the 1st green for par to defeat Todd Conway who three putts his first hole of the day to lose.
